During an lifetime a person sees trends as they develop. The longer the span of life - the more accurate he can predict the trend. My childhood, from baptism on, has been centered on the Christian Church. Christianity was taught to me by verbal repetition of passages of the Holy Bible. Perhaps it was with you also. As a child and as a young person I found the Holy Bible to be unintelligible. Too many 'begats' and other non-essential information. An older person was required to sort out the names, places and sometimes difficult language. I listened to qualified teenagers and adults who read to me sub-sections. They also explained or constructed stories that led to moral or ethical lessons. Unfortunately, I was a poor listener. Until I reached about 12 years of age I was more interested in day-dreaming and thinking about cars and airplanes. My teen age years were distinguished first by my ignoring of Christianity for several years, and by the time I'd reached maturity I had developed a new interest. I began a lifelong habit of reading books. My curiosity led me to widely disparate subject matter, and religion was at the top of the list.
