A Better Way ?

Americans dither. Should we or should we not go to war with Syria. Should the Syrian government be allowed to murder it's own people? Does the entire world have to watch and do nothing? Suggestion. Review the past with an eye pealed for moronic behavior that leads to war.

Examples:

  • During the Revolutionary War did the British stand in a line so the rag-tag Americans could shoot them more efficiently?
  • During the Civil War, to hold the nation together and to release slaves from bondage did Americans shoot Americans?
  • During WW I did our doughboys fight and die in rat filled trenches of mud while the enemy used poison gasses?
Somewhere on this timeline there was an international meeting of nations that agreed and declared phosgene, mustard gas tear gas, nerve gas and other deadly chemicals to be prohibited by all nations. Never again would it be used in warfare. But it has been.   Americans for example used napalm (Jellied gasoline and a chemical weapon). Thousands were killed. And poison gas used during the Holocaust should have resulted in a worldwide ban supported every nation. There was no ban. Instead we and our allies manufactured nuclear bombs. Thousands of them. The new, vicious, deadly and most effective killing tool ever devised by man.

Briefly think about the historical horrors. The misery man has caused man. Gettysburg, Andersonville, Appotomax, Tear Gas in the trenches, Carpet bombing of cities, The dead children of Dresden, Napalm in the Pacific War,  Agent Orange in Viet Nam, and then Hiroshima, and Nagasaki.

Enough already!

p.s. The middle east is just going to have to sort out their own problems.
